Liverpool need to improve next season. After finishing fifth in the Premier League and missing out on the Champions League for the first time since returning to the top four in 2017, Jürgen Klopp’s men are facing a reset.
It has already started. Alexis Mac-Alister and Dominic Szoboschrei joined from Brighton and RB Leipzig for a total of $121m (£95m/€111m) respectively, with many leaving as their contracts expired.
The restructuring has already begun, and more may follow, but Liverpool should be confident of significantly improved performance levels and stability when next season begins.

However, those who are already in the club can also grow personally. In fact, Liverpool have several players to look forward to at the start of the new season.
For example, last season wasn’t Fabinho’s best performance, but the Brazilian thrived with more support towards the end of the season.
He needed the legs of Trent Alexander-Arnold, and with the likes of Mac Allister and Shoboshley, it wasn’t perfect, but Fabinho should have more power.
Curtis Jones is another midfielder who can hit the ground running. If he continues his form from the final quarter of last season, and already represented England in the Under-21 European Championships, Liverpool will be a regular favorite to start.
It’s been an important season for Jones to prove his quality, but he can definitely do that once he gets past his injury problems.

On the front lines, you should be able to extract more firepower. As for Luis Diaz, it’s realistic to think of the Colombian as ‘something like a new signing’ – he missed most of last season but returned late in the season. With a full summer of campaign prep and 100 percent sharpness back, the 26-year-old should be ready to make a big impact.
Diogo Jota falls into a similar category. After finishing the last season with seven goals in nine games, the Portuguese forward can score many decisive goals when he’s on good form. Had Jota been at his best and stayed healthy for just one more month, Liverpool certainly wouldn’t have missed the top four last season.
Darwin Nunez should also be expected to grow. The Uruguayan scored 15 goals in his debut season and, like his sophomore season at Benfica, is well-positioned to return to action.
With more forwards available and a functioning midfield division behind him, Nunez should be able to focus on what he does best with less pressure on his shoulders.
Of course, the new signings will have a big impact on Liverpool next season. But with at least five of the players Liverpool already have, Klopp should be ready for big additions.
