You’ve probably heard the saying, “There’s no such thing as a free lunch.”

But can you get a free meal from a hawker if you lose your wallet and cell phone?

A TikTok video posted by user Unreels Legend on July 9 that shows a vendor at the Senja Hawker Center giving a free meal to a woman who “lost” her wallet and mobile phone went viral.

The video, shot by Pang of Singaporean plant-based food company Unreel Foods, has 86,000 views, 4,000 likes and over 170 comments.

In the video, Pang approaches the Subakhani Family stall staff and says, “I forgot to bring my wallet and mobile phone. I just dropped it. Do you think I can still get a plate of rice from you? If there is anything,” he is seen saying. I think you can “

Farida, who was at first surprised by the question, replied, “Sit down, I’ll give it to you later.”

A few minutes later, Farida served Pan a dish like nasi goreng (fried rice).

Pang then revealed that he was part of Unreel Foods and that they were simply filming TikTok videos documenting acts of kindness.

She gave Farida $10 for the meal and said, “I just want to thank you for the kindness you have shown me.”

Pan also gave Farida $58 in advance, saying, “We just want to spread kindness. Either spend it for our shop or see others in need of food.” said.

When Pang asked why she gave food to strangers for free, Farida replied: “Obviously people always pay for food. But I can’t say you have to pay for people who really don’t have food. We don’t.” It’s a person I have to feed people. “

The heartwarming video has won the hearts of netizens, with many praising Farida for her selflessness and generosity.

Spread kindness on TikTok

In a separate video posted on July 8, Unreel Foods posted a video of Pang demanding a free bottle of water while claiming she lost her wallet at the grocery store.

Without hesitation, the attendant pointed to a plastic bottle of water and said, “Take it, take it.”

In some of the videos, you can see the Unreel Foods team giving some business owners a $58 upfront payment and explaining why.

When Jone, part of Unreel Foods, thought about marketing his plant-based food company online, he wanted more “purposeful marketing” than just spending money on social media credits. and shared in the video.

Inspired by the philanthropy of social media influencers Beast and Zachery Deleniowski, Joan said, “We’re actually spreading kindness to random people, and that it has a ripple effect. I am looking forward to it,” he said.

Unreel Food’s kindness video is a fascinating introduction to such philanthropy in Singapore and has received many positive comments and praise.

Many people questioned the video as a “staging”, but Unreels Foods said, “Before we found such a friendly business, we walked 10 hours a week, rejected by countless businesses. I am,” he countered.
